Teaching all first year students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program crafts an introduction to college research and writing. Rhetorical instruction takes up humanities, social science, natural science, and professional writing.

The program also plays a key role in digital literacy efforts on campus, asking every students to compose in not only words but also images, sounds, and other digital modes.

Upper-level courses and a minor in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Literacy offer more instruction into advanced aspects of digital research and composing.
