Right Road

This cloth it sure is pretty

The sun shine through

Grandma can you help me

Show me a thing or two

Saw a boy just yesterday

And I don't know what to do

Gonna sew me a little something

To make him see me too

And she said,

This ain't the right cloth for that

If you stitch two things together

You never take it back

There's a white church by the willow

Just past the beaten track

You take him there and you say a prayer

Find a fabric that lasts

Grampa we've been working

On this truck now for two years

The rubber upon the blacktop

Is making music to my ears

Can you show me where you used to go

Where no one is near

Saw a girl just yesterday

Gonna let her know I'm here

And he said,

This ain't the right road for that

When you're headin' in the wrong direction

It's hard turning back

There's a white church by the willow

Way off the beaten track

You and take her there and you say your prayer

Together find the path.

Well that was fifty years ago

But it seems just like a day

We took hands in the churchyard

And hand in hand we stayed

And people come and ask us

If we can show them the way

We point them toward the willow

And this is what we say,

This is the right road for that

When you're headin' in the same direction

There's no turnin' back

And this is the write cloth for that

When you stitch two things together

You never take it back

There's a white church by the willow

Way off the beaten path

Weave your hands together

Find a fabric that last
